Lead Engineer, Threat Intel Detection Engineering, Target
Nate Icart is a Lead Threat Intelligence Detection Engineer with thirteen years of experience in cybersecurity, networking, and engineering. He started his career as a signals intelligence communicator as a United States Marine, primarily working for the National Security Agency. He became the go-to subject matter expert on the secure communication equipment while deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.
After leaving government service, he moved to Minneapolis for a cyber security career with a large tech retailer. There he managed multiple security platforms, and created processes that would allow disparate applications to communicate with each other. In his current role he has developed multiple applications and human-based processes that have vastly improved the efficacy of the security organization as a whole. Icart currently works for Target Corporation’s Cyber Security team, has received his MS in Cyber Security from Capella University, and is currently earning a second MS in Security Engineering from the SANS Institute.
